In 2014, GW SMHS launched the GW Clinical Public Health Program in the four-year medical education curriculum to integrate public health and population health, recognizing the scope of practice for the 21st century clinician must encompass both individual and community health. As a core program in CPHSHE, the GW Clinical Public Health Program is evolving to the next generation model of clinical public health and population practice through an expanded curriculum serving all health care training and education programs within GW SMHS; enhanced research capacity for students, graduate trainees, and faculty members to advance population health sciences through an equity lens; and continuous alignment of community outreach and engagement programs with local community health needs.
